What Nigel says:
Partners In Crime started when I was listening to a very old folk song which tells of betrayal and murder. I was particularly struck by a line – “So slowly, slowly he stood up”. I could see the person reluctantly standing up knowing that he was about to be killed. This line set my mind racing – I had the end of my story and now I had to go back and find the beginning. I came up with the idea of three boys who meet in primary school and who grow up in a tough world of drugs and crime. I imaged their rivalries, their loves, their betrayals and the slow path to murder.
