What Nigel says:
This book started when I was thinking about the way that people are always shocked when someone they know turns out to be a murderer. No one ever says, “Oh yes, I always thought he was a serial killer”. Instead, they talk about how nice and kind and friendly the person was. So I thought, I wonder that it would be like if someone you loved was suddenly accused of murder? Would you think there had been a mistake – because, of course, mistake happen! Guilty… or innocent?
