Buddy and Buddy’s Song Adaptations
Nigel’s best-selling novel Buddy was adapted to a five-part BBC school TV drama series in 1986. It was shown as part of the social studies project, and starred Wayne Goddard and Roger Daltrey.
Following this, the second book in the trilogy, Buddy’s Song, was adapted for film in 1991, directed by Claude Whatham and starring Roger Daltrey, who reprised is role as Buddy’s father, and Chesney Hawkes. Nigel was commissioned to write the screenplay.
Music
Nigel wrote a number of the smash-hit songs from the soundtrack of the 1991 film Buddy’s Song, starring actor Chesney Hawkes. The soundtrack was later released separately as an album entitled Buddy’s Song/ The One and Only (US title).
